Jesús Velasco Mondragón is a Mexican dancer, choreographer, and artistic director driven by continuous learning, artistic exchange, and community-building. He was a 2025 Art Omi: Dance Resident, received the PECDA grant from the Mexican Ministry of Culture in 2019, and was a finalist for Capezio’s Award for Choreographic Excellence in New York City in 2014 and 2015.
Holding a degree in Industrial Design with a specialization in Scenic Design, Jesús’ work explores the relationship between space, body, and an evolving movement language. His choreographic repertoire includes micro.cosm (Ballet Prover), Second Life (New Mexico School for the Arts), PHI (performed at Museo Soumaya, Mexico City), as well as SOL and BLU. In 2021, Jesús collaborated with visual artists and digital producers to create Mapas en el Cuerpo, a documentary and audiovisual series exploring Mexico through dance.
Since 2014, he has toured internationally as an independent teacher and choreographer, collaborating with over 100 studios, companies, and dance conventions across more than 10 countries, receiving recognition from numerous international institutions.
In 2017, he founded DOMO, an annual dance festival that has brought together over 400 artists worldwide, forging a strong connection between his artistic practice and his community in Jojutla, Morelos.
